Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and China Dmytro Kuleba and Wang Yi met on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. Wang Yi said that Beijing does not sell weapons to Russia, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry's website.
Wang Yi noted that China and Ukraine have long been strategic partners and that the two peoples have a traditional friendship.
"Regardless of how the international situation changes, China hopes that China-Ukraine relations will develop normally and continue to benefit the two peoples. Once again, I thank you for Ukraine's assistance in the safe evacuation of Chinese personnel during the emergency (at the beginning of the war - ed.). The Chinese people will never forget this," Wang Yi said.
Regarding the Ukrainian issue, he said that Beijing "adheres to political solutions to problems in hot spots, insists on promoting peace and negotiations, and does not add fuel to the fire".
The minister stressed that China "does not sell lethal weapons to conflict areas or parties to conflict". "We will continue to play a constructive role in ending the war and restoring peace as soon as possible. Even if there is only a glimmer of hope for peace, China will not give up its efforts," the Chinese foreign minister added.
Kuleba, for his part, said that Ukraine is ready to maintain friendly relations with China and contribute to the further development of bilateral relations.
