Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has called on his European colleagues to transfer artillery shells to meet the needs of the Ukrainian army and for the defence of Europe.
He said this at a meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers on 19 February, according to the Foreign Ministry's website.
Kuleba noted the importance of increasing the supply of artillery shells to Ukraine, in particular, by cancelling export contracts and directing all available European products to the needs of the Ukrainian front and European defence.
"Every artillery shell that is currently produced in Europe should serve the defence of Europe. We have to make it a rule," the minister stressed.
Kuleba called on European governments to sign more long-term contracts to establish new production lines and to jointly look outside Europe for shells that can be purchased and sent to Ukraine.
The minister added that the only way to prevent a bigger war in Europe is to give the Ukrainian army the opportunity to defeat the Russian invaders.
