Russia has concentrated a significant amount of military equipment and weapons in the Kupyansk sector, including about 500 tanks, 430 artillery systems, 150 MLRS and 650 armoured personnel carriers, the head of the press service of the eastern group of forces, Illya Yevlash, said on the air of the news telethon, Dzerkalo Tyzhnya reports.
"In the early autumn of 2023, the total number of occupiers in the Lyman-Kupyansk sector at that time was 110,000. And this number in the Kupyansk area, if we take only this area, has been there for a long time. It should be understood that not all of the 42,000 are directly involved in hostilities. These are service units, maintenance crews, cooks, logisticians, engineers, so it is a large number of people who are present in this area," Yevlash said.
According to the spokesperson, about 500 tanks, 430 artillery systems and 150 MLRS are concentrated in this area.
Yevlash also said that over the past day, the Russians carried out eight air strikes and fired 489 times at Ukrainian positions, and 22 engagements took place in the Kupyansk-Lyman sector.
