There are at least a few mass burial sites in Russia-occupied Crimea for soldiers who died during the full-scale war. The coffins arrive in Crimea without any publicity, and the deaths of soldiers are often reported only after burial. It is impossible to calculate the exact Crimean losses in the war, according to a report by Radio Liberty's Krym.Realii project.
Journalists have identified more than 600 Crimean residents who died in the ranks of the occupying army. This is not the final figure since more graves were discovered in February.
"Most of these graves are in Sevastopol," the article says.
Among those identified by the journalists are people who voluntarily went to Russian military commissariats.
The use of people in an occupied territory in the armed forces is prohibited by the Geneva Convention.
