F-16 fighter jets may appear in Ukraine by the summer, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on 23 February.
"We are working very hard in this regard, and I hope that we will be able to see F-16s in Ukrainian airspace in the near future, before the summer," she explained.
Frederiksen noted that "we have talked to your pilots, our pilots, where the training is taking place. We have promised that we will provide F-16 fighters to Ukraine together with the Netherlands and the United States, because we understand that you absolutely need them if you are to defend your territories and defeat Russia."
The two countries also agreed to hold a joint bilateral defence industry forum.
