The Ministry of Health is starting to inspect all military medical commissions in Kyiv, its head Viktor Lyashko has said.
He signed an order to set up a working group to conduct the inspections.
Lyashko explained that this decision was caused by an increase in the number of complaints that the Ministry of Health has been receiving.
"Most of them relate to very basic things that can be quickly corrected if desired. These include non-compliance with the electronic queue, the lack of basic conditions for comfortable passage of the preliminary clinical examination, and non-optimised routes. We are starting with these things," the minister said.
Lyashko insists that the corruption component in the work of the Military Licensing Commission will not be ignored.
"At the same time, other things do not remain without our attention: the corruption component, such as extortion of bribes for taking into account all existing diseases and conditions during medical examinations, schemes of illegal trafficking of men of military age across the state border or decisions to grant a deferral from the draft for health reasons, a formal approach to the passage of the commissions by persons liable for military service, negligence of doctors, problems with appealing against conclusions. The list goes on," Lyashko said on Facebook.
Lyashko added that the ministry does not have leverage over all the problems, so it will cooperate with law enforcement and military administrations.
"The shameful cases when doctors deliberately issue an incorrect diagnosis or demand bribes for the correct one must stop. Each manipulation must be properly assessed by law enforcement agencies. And we are working together on this! I ask everyone to be proactive and report any violations you encounter. This will help us better understand what and where the problems are, and therefore respond accordingly," the minister asked Ukrainians.
