At a meeting on 8 March, the Cabinet of Ministers approved drafts of a memorandum and loan agreement with the EU that will allow the state treasury to raise another EUR 6 billion.
According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the funds are to be received in March and April.
"Today, the government is approving two documents that will enable Ukraine to receive EUR 6 billion in March and April this year. We are talking about the approval of a draft memorandum and a loan agreement with the EU, which provide for the allocation of up to EUR 4.5 billion in March and up to EUR 1.5 billion in April this year," Shmyhal said.
According to him, Ukraine is seeking to receive about EUR 16 billion from the EU this year. While all the approvals for the EUR 50 billion Ukraine Facility are being finalised, an agreement has been reached on an emergency funding programme from the EU.
As for the EUR 50 billion programme for the next four years, the Prime Minister clarified that it includes EUR 38.2 billion of direct budget support, almost EUR 7 billion to attract investments in our economy and EUR 4.7 billion of technical and administrative support, in particular, for reforms on the path to the EU.
