The SBU military counterintelligence detained an FSB agent who tried to poison the commanders of an Armed Forces combat unit in Zaporizhzhya Region, the SBU press centre has reported.
The attacker was an active serviceman. He planned to add a poisonous substance to the water of the bath and laundry complex used by the command staff.
In addition, it turned out that the offender was performing another task - reconnaissance for the FSB of the location and movement of the Armed Forces units on the front line.
According to the investigation, the man was recruited through his parents, who live in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk Region. Russians kidnapped the soldier's relatives and imprisoned them in a local Russian torture chamber. There, the victims were subjected to severe torture, demanding that they persuade their son to work for the Russian army.
Based on the collected evidence, SBU investigators served the serviceman a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Article 111 of the Criminal Code (high treason committed under martial law). The offender is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
