President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed Law 10448 "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine on the preservation of the gene pool of the Ukrainian people".

The law regulates the issue of biomaterial disposal in the event of the death of a serviceman. The biomaterial will be stored and the family of the serviceman will have the right to biological paternity in the event of the hero's death.
The amendments also stipulate that an individual whose reproductive cells are stored in accordance with the law has the right to dispose of them in the event of his or her death or a court declaration of death or missing.
Parliament supported this draft law on 7 February. On 13 February, the document was sent to Zelenskyy for signing.
