Russians are remotely mining border areas with ShOAB-0.5 ball fragmentation air-dropped bombs, Ukraine's State Emergency Service has warned.
"These are ShOAB-0.5 ball fragmentation bombs. They are used by the enemy to remotely mine our land. They look like a small silver ball. Their appearance can attract the attention of children. Warn your loved ones about the danger!" the SES said.
One RBK-500 cassette contains 565 ShOAB-0.5 ball bombs weighing 400 grams each.
They have a large impact zone: when they send fragments around and fall to the ground, some of them do not detonate. So any touch can cause the bomb to explode, even though there is no seismic sensor.
