International organisations have proved helpless to respond to the brutal executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian occupiers. The Ukrainian side is still waiting for clear legal steps from the world, including a tribunal or the opening of proceedings by the ICC.

This was stated by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets on the air of Radio Svoboda, the Dzerkalo Tyzhnya newspaper reports.

Dmytro Lubinets has already appealed to international organisations regarding the shooting of Ukrainian soldiers near Krynky by the Russian occupiers. The Ombudsman admitted that the UN and the ICRC do not know how to respond to such a violation of the Geneva Convention.

According to him, the United Nations Monitoring Mission has only recently begun to record such cases in its reports, and has not done so before.

The Ukrainian side is still waiting for international organisations to not only condemn the Russians, but to take clear legal steps - to open proceedings with the ICC or create a tribunal. Currently, due to the "toothless position" of international organisations, the executions of Ukrainian defenders continue.

"There are actually a lot of such legal methods. The problem is that we do not see them," the ombudsman concluded.
