Slovakia will take part in a peace summit in Ukraine to be held in Switzerland on 15-16 June.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said this at a briefing on the occasion of the visit of his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhal. He added that today Bratislava and Kyiv approved a roadmap for cooperation.
"I want to be clear so that there is no doubt: the Russian force in Ukraine is a violation of international agreements. This is the position we take in Slovakia and we will not change it," he said.
Fico said that Ukraine and Slovakia can cooperate in the humanitarian and civilian spheres. He also expressed support for Ukraine's ambitions to become part of the European Union.
"We are not a country that will put obstacles in your way. On the contrary, we want to help," assured Fico, who had previously threatened to block Ukraine 's accession to NATO.
The country will also not interfere with the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products to other EU countries. Slovakia offers assistance in demining. On a commercial basis, Slovakia is ready to cooperate with Ukraine in the military sphere. The country also offers assistance in the energy sector.
The Slovak prime minister added that the two countries still have issues of disagreement.
