The Russian army continues its attempts to capture Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Region, throwing guided aerial bombs at the town, using its air superiority, missiles and large-calibre artillery ammunition.
This was reported by Lt Col Nazar Voloshyn, spokesman for the Khortytsya operational and strategic military grouping (OSG), Interfax-Ukraine reports .
"The enemy is currently exerting pressure mainly in the Bakhmut direction. The situation around the town of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Region is difficult. The defence forces are in control of the situation. There is no enemy in the town. The enemy is still using its air superiority, missiles and large-calibre artillery ammunition, trying to conduct assault operations," Voloshyn said.
He also said that enemy assault groups are driving in infantry fighting vehicles and attacking with the support of reconnaissance and strike drones.
"Now the enemy is also throwing KABs at the town of Chasiv Yar, destroying civilian infrastructure... In total, Russian aviation drops about 20 to 30 bombs per day on the positions of Ukrainian defenders and civilian infrastructure," Voloshyn said.
The Khortytsya operational and strategic military grouping also noted that the Russians' tactics are to "level settlements to the ground", completely destroy them and take control of "a pile of dust".
