Russians are spreading disinformation that they are allegedly preparing an offensive in Sumy Region.

This was reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation.

"The Russians are using Ukrainian stories about border guard training to spread disinformation in the Ukrainian information space about the Ukrainian Defence Forces preparing an offensive from Sumy Region to the Kursk Region of Russia, which will lead to increased hostilities in Sumy Region," the statement said. The Russians are also spreading fakes about "preparations for a Ukrainian offensive from Sumy Region to Kursk Region". They use Ukrainian stories about border guard training as "evidence". "This is a continuation of the enemy's 'fear propaganda' campaign against Ukraine's border regions. In this way, the Russians are trying to justify their terrorist attacks on the settlements of Sumy Region and sow panic among the residents in order to force as many civilian Ukrainians as possible to leave the border regions of Ukraine," the Center for Countering Disinformation adds. The Centre emphasises that Russia currently does not have sufficient reserves for an offensive in Sumy Region. "Trust only verified sources of information," the agency emphasises.
