The Dutch government is allocating more than €200 million for new initiatives to quickly supply Ukraine with additional air defence and artillery ammunition.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands.
"Ukraine desperately needs air defence systems and artillery ammunition. The situation threatens to become critical. The resources to which the Netherlands is now contributing are already on the European continent and will be delivered to Ukraine as soon as possible. Now we all need to do everything we can to support Ukraine," said Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren during an online meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council.
The Netherlands is allocating €150 million to support Germany's Immediate Air Defence Action initiative. This money is intended for the rapid delivery of long-range air defence systems together with partners.
The Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands is also purchasing short-range air defence systems worth €60 million. Among other things, they can be used to combat drone attacks.
In addition, the Netherlands is supporting Estonia's initiative to rapidly supply Ukraine with artillery ammunition from its existing stockpile.
