The head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, believes that Ukraine will not lose in the war waged by Russia. Although he admits that the forecasts are no longer as optimistic as they were, he is confident that "we will come up with something at the last moment". He said this in an interview with BBC Ukraine

Budanov is convinced that "there are no grounds to believe in Ukraine's strategic loss". According to him, there are reasons to believe that there will be changes for the better.

"Yes, there are problems at the frontline, but we must also be frank - these problems did not appear today, or a month ago, or even three months ago. This is a systemic problem we are facing. At the same time, we must remember that Ukraine still exists," he said.

The head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine called the capture of Avdiyivka a real success for the Russians. Regarding the occupiers' attacks on the energy sector, he said that we also have "positive practical strikes on their facilities".

"It's all about levelling up. You see, they are doing something somewhere, and we are making our own steps somewhere. Some are more successful, others less so. It's not strikes that resolve the issue of war, but, just like in ancient times, nothing will change until a man with a flag enters the territory. Even if you send a million drones there, even if you put a hundred thousand artillery shells there, nothing will happen until a person enters," he said.

At the same time, Budanov admits that Ukraine will face a rather difficult situation in the near future.

"But it's not catastrophic, you have to understand that too. Armageddon is not going to happen, as many people are now starting to say. But there will be problems from mid-May," he said.
