On the night of 8 May, the Russian army attacked electricity generation and transmission facilities in six Regions of Ukraine.
The consequences of the shelling are being investigated. This was reported by Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
"The enemy does not abandon its plans to deprive Ukrainians of electricity. Another massive attack on our energy sector! Electricity generation and transmission facilities were attacked in Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhya, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Vinnytsya Regions," he said.
The minister added that Russia wants to deprive Ukraine of the ability to generate and transmit electricity sufficiently. He urged people to use energy sparingly, especially in the morning and evening.
DTEK added that the Russian army attacked three thermal power plants.
"Equipment has been seriously damaged. Power engineers are currently working to eliminate the consequences of the attack. This is the fifth massive shelling of the company's energy facilities in the last month and a half. The last time the enemy attacked DTEK's thermal power plants was during massive attacks on 22 and 29 March, 11 and 27 April," the statement said.
During the full-scale war, DTEK's thermal power plants were shelled about 180 times. 51 employees were injured and three power engineers were killed.
Philip Pronin, head of the Poltava RMA, said that there was a hit to an energy infrastructure facility in Poltava district. A fire broke out after the Russian UAV hit. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.
An eight-year-old child was injured in Kirovohrad Region as a result of a shelling. A critical infrastructure facility was damaged in Oleksandriya district. Preliminary damage was done to 13 private houses and nearly three dozen garages, said the head of the RMA, Andriy Raykovych.
In Ivano-Frankivsk Region, an energy facility caught fire as a result of the strike. Fortunately, there were no casualties, the head of the RMA said.
In Lviv Region, the Russian military attacked two energy facilities.
