The Danish government has announced a new humanitarian aid package for Ukraine worth around $35 million. The package will include basic emergency assistance, including food, medicine, water and shelter for Ukrainians in the most affected areas.
This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Radio Liberty reports.
According to the government, about 40% of Ukrainians need humanitarian aid, and add that the situation in Ukraine is "extremely serious".
Minister of Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy Dan Jorgensen stressed that Ukraine has millions of displaced people, destroyed housing, and difficult access to water, heating and electricity.
"The situation in the frontline areas has reached a particularly catastrophic level. Many women and children are particularly vulnerable. With this new support package, we aim to provide urgent humanitarian assistance and life-saving protection for the most vulnerable groups," Jorgensen said.
The humanitarian aid package will include basic emergency assistance, including food, medicine, water and shelter for Ukrainians in the most affected areas.
In addition, the aid package provides for counteracting the risks faced by women and girls, including sexual or gender-based violence. For example, we are talking about psychological support and medical care for mothers.
