The EU ambassadors have adopted a decision on the proceeds of Russia's frozen assets.
The Belgian Presidency of the EU Council reported this on social media platform X.
"The ambassadors agreed in principle on measures relating to the extraordinary proceeds from Russia's frozen assets. The funds will be used to support Ukraine's recovery and military defence in the face of Russian aggression," the post reads.
The proceeds from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation, most of which are kept in Belgium, amount to 2.5 to 3 billion euros a year. The European Commission proposed that 90% of the profits would be used to buy weapons, and the remaining 10% would be used for non-military aid.
