The Ukrainian army recruitment centres currently have more than 2,000 vacancies, and about 10,000 vacancies have been posted online by military units.
This was reported during a national telethon by Oleksiy Bezhevets, the Defence Ministry's commissioner for recruitment, Ukrinform reports.
"We already have more than 2,000 vacancies. These are directly those collected by the centres from military units whose permanent locations are in the respective region or which are represented in the regions. And about 10,000 more different vacancies are currently posted online by military units," Bezhevets said.
According to him, even those who have already received summons can choose a speciality in recruitment centres.
"For any person, even those who have received a summons to clarify their credentials, and in this status, a person is not deprived of the opportunity, and we invite these people to look for their place in the army, not to wait to be called up, when you are mobilised, because as of today, such an opportunity exists," Bezhevets said.
He added that a person can choose to serve under a contract or be mobilised to a specific unit from a certain list of priority units. Currently, there are more than 100 such priority military units.
When asked about the most popular vacancies, Bezhevets informed that they include drivers, mechanics, riflemen, operators of all types of weapons, artillery support, UAV operators, and combat medics. As of today, more than 3,000 people have already applied to recruitment centres.
"More than 3,200 people have already applied. Approximately 30% are currently at one stage or another of the registration process: either vacancies are being matched for them, or they have been contacted by military units, or they are already being registered. Approximately 50 are already in training centres and preparing, and these numbers are growing every day," he said.
There are also many vacancies related to logistics, maintenance and repair of equipment.
Bezhevets also added that new recruitment centres for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will soon be opened in Ukraine.
"We are currently communicating with about 10 different Regions, because the opening of such centres is a form of cooperation with self-government bodies and local authorities, because we place them in Administrative Service Centres (ASCs), train people accordingly, they are trained and provided with everything they need. The last centres have been opened in Uzhhorod and Mukachevo, we are now waiting for Khmelnytskyy, we are in communication with Odesa, Ternopil, Rivne, Chernivtsi, so we are gradually expanding this geography as much as possible," said the Ministry of Defence representative.
As of 2 May, 20 recruitment centres for the Armed Forces of Ukraine were opened in Ukraine.
