As part of the Eastern Shield programme, Poland may flood a number of territories on the border with Russia and Belarus.
This was stated by the head of the Polish government Donald Tusk on TVN24, Ukrinform reports.
"It will be fortifications, shelters and infrastructure that will restore a sense of security and normalcy for the people who live there... It will be everything, including reforestation, and where necessary, flooded areas," he said.
Earlier, the Polish PM said that Warsaw would allocate 10 billion zlotys (more than $2.5 billion) under the programme. According to him, the funds are already being allocated, and the relevant work is underway.
The plan envisages the construction of new fortifications, fences, changes in the shape of the relief and special forest plantations along 400 kilometres of the land border.
