European Solidarity MPs blocked the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, demanding that the bill banning the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate be put to a vote.

The session was adjourned as two parliamentary factions demanded that the bill be put to a vote. However, after that, MPs blocked the rostrum, said MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak (Holos).

The parliamentarians were holding posters, including "The Moscow Church Kills".

"Church-fortifications-drones," shouted European Solidarity representative Iryna Herashchenko.

In addition, the MPs demanded the creation of a temporary investigative commission on the fortifications.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk told reporters that he was forced to adjourn the parliament.

"That's it for today!" he said.

At the same time, after blocking the rostrum, the European Solidarity MPs also appeared at the briefing of the Speaker. They demanded that he submit the draft law banning the Moscow Patriarchate for consideration in the second reading.

  • The draft law banning religious organisations associated with the aggressor country was passed in the first reading back in October.
  • The document was expected to be adopted in the second reading on the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion, but failed.
