A 30-year-old resident of Kyiv organised an illegal scheme to make money from men of mobilisation age who want to get a deferment and go abroad, involving other accomplices.
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service.
It is noted that the businesswoman offered men the opportunity to get a deferral from mobilisation and cross the border under the guise of fictitious marriages with women with many children and women with disabilities of group I or II.
She searched for her clients through ads in a closed telegram channel. The cost of an "arranged marriage" cost men from $4,000, depending on the disability and number of children. In addition, the list of services provided by the matchmaker included advice on crossing the border, how to behave and how to answer questions from border guards.
A 30-year-old woman was exposed when she received USD 4,000 from a "groom" for meeting a mother with many children and subsequently registering a fictitious marriage.
"Law enforcement officers detained the organiser of the scheme in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. She has been served a notice of suspicion of a crime and a custodial measure of restraint has been imposed with the possibility of bail in excess of UAH 180,000," the State Border Guard Service said in a statement.
The main person involved in the scheme was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC and served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 322 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine". The full range of persons involved in the illegal activity is being identified. The investigation is ongoing.
