Explosion occurs in Kharkiv

An explosion occurred in Kharkiv at around 10:30. This was reported by Suspilne correspondents and the mayor.

The message about the explosion appeared on the mayor's account. At 11:17, the information about the shelling was clarified by the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Synyehubov.

"At 10.35, the occupiers struck an open area of the Kharkiv district. At the moment, there are no casualties," he said.

Kharkiv is subject to Russian strikes almost every day. The Russians are deliberately targeting places where there are many civilians: parks, recreation areas, businesses, shops.

Over the past week, Russia has carried out several massive shelling attacks. On 23 May, Russia attacked the Factor printing house, which is part of the same holding as the Vivat publishing house. Seven people were killed, dozens were wounded, and 50,000 books were burnt. One in three Ukrainian books was printed at this enterprise.

On 25 May, Russia attacked the Epicentre in the middle of a weekend. At least 19 people were killed and 40 others were injured. This morning, the death toll rose again, as an injured man died. The President of Ukraine and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba said earlier that Ukraine lacks two Patriot air defence systems to protect Kharkiv and the Region. He also called for Ukraine to be allowed to strike Russian military targets on its territory.
