The heads of the Lithuanian and Estonian foreign ministries have confirmed Ukraine's right to strike military targets in the Russian Federation with Western weapons.
This was reported by Radio Svoboda with reference to its correspondent.
‘Ukraine has the right to self-defence and has the right to strike at the territory of Russia, if necessary... Fortunately, more and more countries understand this. We have to give Ukraine the freedom to defend itself,' Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Prague.
The head of Lithuanian diplomacy, Gabrielius Landsbergis, also supported Ukraine's right to launch strikes on Russian territory. ‘Ukrainians are able to identify military targets in Russia... They can strike at military targets, at troop concentrations, at weapons depots. Ukraine has the right and ability to defend itself,’ the Lithuanian Foreign Minister said.
However, Landsbergis avoided answering the question of whether Ukraine could strike at military targets in Belarus, which provided its territory to Russia to invade Ukraine from the north at the beginning of the full-scale Russian aggression.
‘I mean, if Ukraine has the ability to defend itself. And if Russia, fearing that the targets might be hit in Russia, might move them somewhere else. I think the targeting should be moved then,’ Landsbergis said.
