Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has managed to return only 400 children from Russia.

This was stated by Dariya Herasymchuk, the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children's Rights and Child Rehabilitation, during the exhibition and presentation of the book Living the War: Children", the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights and Child Rehabilitation Dariya Herasymchuk said.

According to Herasymchuk, Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula contains the 4th point, which concerns the return of all prisoners of war and deportees, including Ukrainian children.

‘Unfortunately, today we see that not a single international mechanism that should have worked has worked in the case of Ukrainian children. It is extremely difficult. As of today, we have managed to return almost 400 children, believe me, with superhuman efforts,’ said the Ombudsman.

Both the Ukrainian state team and NGOs, international communities, with the mediation of other countries such as Qatar, are involved in the return of deported Ukrainian children.

According to the Ombudsman, 400 children ‘is a very small part and all these are separate operations to rescue each individual child’.
