Dutch Prime Minister Kajsa Ollongren has confirmed that Ukraine will be allowed to use her country's F-16 fighter jets to strike targets in Russia. She said this in an interview with Politico during the Singapore summit.
Ollongren noted that her country would not impose restrictions, as Belgium did. In return, the Netherlands will retain the same principle as for the transfer of any other weapons.
The only requirement for Ukraine is to abide by international law.
"We are only asking them to respect international law and the right of self-defence as stated in the UN Charter, which means that they use it to hit military targets that they need to hit in self-defence," Ollongren said.
Last week, the Dutch foreign minister said that the Netherlands was not against strikes by its F-16s against military targets in Russia. She said that there are no limits to the use of weapons in self-defence, Radio Liberty reported.
