Recently, the number of Russian attacks and attempts by Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to enter the Sumy sector has decreased.
This was announced by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon, Radio Svoboda reports.
‘Over the last period, we have seen a certain decrease in the activity of shelling in the Sumy Region, compared to, for example, spring. At the same time, the number of attempts by enemy subversive reconnaissance groups to enter the territory of Ukraine and the number of clashes with them have decreased in the Sumy sector. Previously, several times a week there could be attempts to enter subversive reconnaissance groups, their exposure and, in fact, clashes to drive such groups out of Ukraine. Recently, there have been no attempts by enemy subversive reconnaissance groups to enter Ukraine,’ Demchenko said.
Currently, the situation in Sumy Region remains fully controlled by the Defence Forces and no enemy advance has been recorded.
At the same time, Russia continues to shell the border in the north of Ukraine, using a variety of weapons.
‘The enemy is trying not only to hit the locations of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, but also to target populated areas, which is causing damage to civilians and civilian infrastructure on the border,’ he added.
