Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met in Kyiv with Minister of Defence of the Netherlands Kajsa Ollongren. The politicians discussed joint defence production and the transfer of F-16 fighter jets.
The head of the Ukrainian government announced this in a Telegram.
"First of all, I thanked her for her support in strengthening Ukraine's air defence. I noted the initiative of the Netherlands to jointly supply Ukraine with Patriot air defence systems. We also look forward to the speedy delivery of F-16 aircraft, which will help protect people and infrastructure,’ Shmyhal wrote.
The parties also discussed joint defence production and technology exchange.
"Another important topic was Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration. We rely on the active advocacy of the Netherlands in further work with key partners of the Alliance to fully support our country,’ the Prime Minister added and reminded that the Netherlands would be represented at the highest level at the Peace Summit in Sweden.
The Netherlands has allowed Ukraine to strike military targets in Russia with its F-16s. The country has put forward a single requirement: Ukraine must comply with international law and hit only those targets that need to be hit in self-defence.
