The Security Service and the State Bureau of Investigation have collected evidence of the criminal activities of Serhiy Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak, brothers of former MPs Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak, who are suspected of treason. All four are currently hiding outside Ukraine. This was reported by the SBU press centre.

It has been established that Serhiy Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak were involved in financial fraud to the detriment of Ukraine in 2017-2023. The case involves millions of hryvnyas deliberately transferred into the shadow economy, resulting in the loss of over UAH 75 million in taxes to the state budget.

According to intelligence, these funds were used to finance the war against our country.

"To implement the fraud, the defendants involved a Lviv-based construction materials company, which they managed as beneficial owners. On their instructions, the company's top management did not account for some of the products and illegally sold them to third parties. In this way, the participants of the "scheme" evaded paying taxes for the products sold. To do this, the company's director and accountant entered false information into the financial and reporting documentation," the statement said.

The expert examination confirmed the facts of causing millions of hryvnyas of damage to the state and misappropriation of this money in favour of the defendants.

Based on the collected evidence, Serhiy Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak were served suspicion notices in absentia under Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code (tax evasion, duties (mandatory payments). The actions of their accomplices, the director and accountant of the controlled company, who are in Ukraine, are additionally qualified under Part 2 of Art. 366 of the Criminal Code (forgery). The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, Medvedchuk's associates who discredited the Defence Forces on social media were detained in Kyiv.
