Andriy Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defence Council's Disinformation Counteraction Centre, commented on Russia's statement about the alleged seizure of a village in Sumy Region. According to him, the Russians received fire damage, and the Defence Forces are controlling the situation.
Kovalenko said that the situation in Sumy Region is not the beginning of an offensive like the one in Kharkiv Region in May. He assured that there are no active actions in the border area.
"The Russians tried to test the defences in the direction of Ryzhivka, which is a satellite of the Russian Tiotkino. There are no active actions in the border area at the moment. The Defence Forces are in control of the situation, the enemy has been hit by fire. Kadyrov's men are an information army, and they are focusing on the information component. We should not compare the situation with Kharkiv Region as of 08:00," he said.
At the same time, he stressed that the threat of Russian actions in the border area remains.
