Nayyem resigns from post of State Agency for Reconstruction head after business trip scandal

His team is leaving with him.

Mustafa Nayyem, the head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure, has written a letter of resignation. This was reported by the Chesno movement

It is now known that Andriy Ivko, First Deputy Head of the Recovery Agency, and Valeriya Ivanova, Deputy Head of the Recovery Agency, have also written letters of resignation.

The decision was made amid a scandal over Nayyem's disrupted business trip to Berlin for an international conference on 11-12 June, which is designed to mobilise international support for the country's recovery from the devastation caused by Russia's full-scale invasion.

Nayem confirmed his resignation.

"I am resigning as the head of the Recovery Agency. I made the decision on my own due to systemic obstacles that prevent me from exercising my powers effectively. Starting last November, the Agency's team began to face constant opposition, resistance and the creation of artificial obstacles," he wrote on Facebook.

Nayyem said he would continue to perform his duties until the government decides to dismiss him and hand over to his successors.
