The mayor of Mukachevo, Andriy Baloha, has been released on UAH 30 million bail in a case of alleged land fraud, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing law enforcement sources.
Today, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) arrested Mykhaylo Lanyo, the head of the Mukachevo District Council, in this case. He also arrested the former head of the municipal property and land relations department of the city council.
The day before, the HACC arrested the mayor of Mukachevo, Andriy Baloha, in the same case.
All three were arrested in a case of possible land fraud.
Earlier it was reported that the mayor of Mukachevo, Andriy Baloha, and the head of the district council in Transcarpathian Region were caught selling land at low prices. The abuse was estimated at almost UAH 75 million. According to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the mayor "pushed through" a decision at the city council session to sell the Avangard stadium land plot in Mukachevo at a price that was almost nine times lower than the actual value to a private company whose actual controller is the head of the district council, a former MP.
