About a hundred Ukrainian specialists are to be trained in Denmark to maintain F-16 fighter jets. Of these, 50 have already been trained and are taking part in the preparation of the first aircraft in Ukraine. This was stated by Danish Air Force Commander Jan Dam, according to Yevropeyska Pravda.
These are specialists to perform auxiliary tasks: mechanics, weapons specialists and ground staff for Ukrainian air bases.
"We have now completed the training of the first 50, most of whom have returned home to help prepare (receive) the first combat aircraft. Right after the summer holidays, we will start training the next 50," said Jan Dam.
According to him, the first batch of pilots is not yet fully trained, but "the first ones are very close to being ready".
He also urged all parties not to set expectations too high for the arrival of F-16s in Ukraine.
- After 2024, Ukrainians will not be able to continue training on F-16s in Denmark, as the Danish army will switch to more modern fighters.
- Zelenskyy has announced that Danish F-16s will arrive in Ukraine in the near future.
