DTEK Energy said that 90% of its capacity was lost due to Russian shelling. In total, Russia has struck over 180 Ukrainian TPPs. It may take years to recover.
This was stated by the company's CEO Ildar Saleyev on Facebook.
According to him, the company doesn’t even consider the "not subject to restoration" category. "All facilities will be restored sooner or later."
"Restoration works are ongoing 24/7. After each attack, power engineers try to return the damaged equipment to the system as much as possible. The scale of the damage is such that restoration work takes years, not months. It is primarily a matter of time and availability of the necessary equipment. Orders for equipment manufacturing have been placed with production facilities on all continents," says Saleyev.
According to preliminary estimates, the losses amount to $350 million. This year alone, the company will spend UAH 4 billion of its own funds, or about $100 million, to repair the TPPs.
"This is our minimum plan for what we can do this year. Our specialists are looking for spare equipment around the world that can be bought, brought and installed. For security reasons, we are not talking in detail about the restoration work at the moment," he adds.
