The Ministry of Defence of Latvia has announced the transfer of more than 2,500 drones of various types and capabilities to Ukraine for €4 million.

According to the Latvian defence ministry, this assistance will be provided gradually in July as part of a drone coalition.

The first batch of a large package, 300 drones, will be delivered in the coming days.

"The drone coalition is gaining momentum. The next batch will include more than 2,500 drones manufactured by seven Latvian companies. Together with the members of the international drone coalition, we are constantly working to supply combat drones of various capacities to Ukraine in line with the current needs and testing requirements of the Ukrainian army. At the same time, significant funds are being invested in the further development and implementation of drone technology," said Andris Sprūds, Minister of Defence of Latvia.
In total, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence has allocated 20 million euros for the needs of the drone coalition this year, of which more than 10 million is earmarked for the purchase of drones from the Latvian defence industry.

In April-May this year, Latvia sent 135 combat drones of various capacities and electronic warfare equipment worth approximately EUR 1 million to Ukraine.

By the end of the year, the Ministry of Defence will continue to purchase Latvian-made combat drones, primarily FPV drones that can be piloted.

Procurement volumes will be divided into several procurements to enable companies to gradually increase production volumes and to adapt to changes in technical specifications in line with Ukraine's requirements.
