The Cabinet of Ministers has dismissed the head of the State Film Agency of Ukraine, Maryna Kuderchuk.
This was announced by the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.
According to him, Maryna Kuderchuk will no longer lead the State Film Agency. For now, Yuliya Shevchuk will temporarily act as the head.
- Earlier, the film community had repeatedly called for the resignation of Maryna Kuderchuk, who, through her actions and deeds, is destroying the system of state regulation of the industry, discrediting the position of a civil servant, and harming Ukrainian society and Ukraine's image in the world.
- Kuderchuk became the head of the Ukrainian State Film Agency in January 2020. Prior to that, she worked as the deputy head of the Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration, and since 2017, she has been working in the administration of the Dovzhenko Cinema and Concert Hall in Zaporizhzhya. At first, she worked as a deputy director, then as an acting director, and then as a director.
- On 7 March 2023, the powers of the State Film Support Council, which is elected for two years, were extended by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers at the request of the Ukrainian State Film Agency; on 2 November 2023, the Kyiv District Administrative Court upheld the claim of the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine and declared the decision to extend the powers of the State Film Support Council illegal.
- By the way, the film development strategy until 2027, which the State Film Agency repeatedly tried to approve at meetings of the Cabinet of Ministers, was never adopted due to an unsatisfactory assessment of the industry and violations of procedures; the film community opposed its approval;
