A strike on an ammunition depot in the Voronezh region of the Russian Federation has shown that Russia is unable to protect its logistics near the front.
On 7 July, British intelligence published the results of a strike by SBU drones on an ammunition depot in the village of Serhiyivka, Voronezh Region.
British intelligence noted that the strike on the military facility led to the almost complete destruction of everything stored there, from ammunition to equipment. The area of the depot is about 9 square kilometres. For Russia, this is a significant loss, as the facility stored surface-to-surface missiles and small arms.
The destruction of so many weapons will further stretch Russia's logistics chains and lead to an even greater dispersal of troops due to the threat of new strikes, British intelligence believes.
The agency also adds that this further highlights "Russia's inability to defend key sites in an area that boasts dense air defences, some 80km from the Ukrainian border".
"Russia cannot afford such losses, given its strategy of war of attrition. This approach requires a huge amount of ammunition. Russia is currently relying on its limited foreign partners in this regard through its defence intelligence," the British Ministry of Defence stressed.
