Ukraine expected to man 14 brigades with foreign aid, but only three were formed. The lack of resources is the main reason for Russia's advance in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian president said in an interview with French media.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that initially, Western aid packages were planned to be directed to these 14 brigades, whose military were to ensure rotation at the front and replace those defenders who had been fighting for years. However, the aid had to be spent on other brigades, so only three of the new ones had enough.

"At least ten, I'll tell you frankly. Because the guys are on the battlefield, and they need to rest. How will you carry out rotations if they are empty?" the president said.

The second reason for the enemy's advance is the Russians, who are moving forward and are afraid to abandon the offensive.

"They are killed there if they run back," Zelenskyy added.

Ukraine will never allow such an approach, he assured.

Zelenskyy also drew attention to the inability to use the weapons received for all the purposes for which they are needed.

"And here is the third reason - the ability to use the weapons as we need them. I think it is a serious challenge that we cannot use weapons as we need them," he added.

In the end, the president is confident that Ukraine will be able to stop the advance.
