Russia continues to focus its main efforts in the Pokrovsk sector, where it is sending in its most trained assault units and trying to break through the defences in the areas of Zhelanne, Novohrodivka and Pokrovsk.

Fierce fighting continues in the Kupyansk sector near Pishchane, Makiyivka and Stelmakhivka. However, the defenders are holding their positions, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyy wrote on Facebook.

He spent three days in the brigades holding the defence in the Kharkiv and Toretsk directions.

‘The situation is difficult in the Siverskyy sector. The enemy is actively using artillery, conducting assaults, but is not successful. Fierce fighting is also taking place in the area of the canal on the outskirts of Chasovyy Yar, with no change in the positions of the parties. The enemy continues to storm our positions in the areas of New York, Pivdenne and Zalizne,’ said the chief.

In the Kharkiv sector, fighting continues near Hlyboke and Vovchansk, but, according to the Commander-in-Chief, the enemy is not successful there and suffers losses.

‘Combat actions of varying intensity continue in all areas of the enemy's offensive. In some places, at the cost of heavy losses, the enemy has a slight success. During active hostilities, the tactical positions of troops can change several times during the day. As of now, there have been no significant changes,’ he added.
