In Kharkiv Region, two Russian agents were exposed who passed information about the routes of Ukrainian defenders to Russian special services: a priest of the UOC (MP) and an employee of Ukrzaliznytsya are
suspected.
This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office and the SBU.
According to the investigation, the rector of one of the Kharkiv churches of the UOC (MP), who is a citizen of the Russian Federation, established contact with Russian special services. He was tasked with collecting data on the movement of military equipment and personnel of Ukrainian defenders by rail in Kharkiv Region.
The priest involved his friend who works for Ukrzaliznytsya and has access to the transport company's automated database, including information on departure and arrival times, routes of trains transporting military equipment and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kharkiv, Poltava and Sumy Regions.
The railway worker passed this information to the clergyman, who, in turn, sent the data to the Russian curator in the form of marks on Google maps.
Russians planned to use the information gathered by the suspects to target Ukrainian defenders. When communicating with each other, the suspects took measures to keep their communications secret - they used a cipher, regularly deleted correspondence, etc.
"Thanks to the coordinated actions of law enforcement officers, with the assistance of the management of the Southern Railway regional branch of Ukrzaliznytsya, Russian agents were exposed. During searches at the suspects' residences, mobile phones with evidence of illegal activity were found and seized," the prosecutor's office said.
The suspects were chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
"Under the procedural supervision of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a priest of the UOC (MP) and an employee of Ukrzaliznytsya were served with a notice of suspicion of disseminating information about the movement, movement and location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, committed under martial law, by prior conspiracy of a group of persons (Part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the prosecutor's office added.
The SBU added that during the search, they seized mobile phones and SIM cards of various operators with evidence of reconnaissance and subversive activities.
The article provides for a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
