An 18-year-old local resident who organised the arson attacks on Ukrainian military vehicles was detained in Khmelnytskyy Region.

This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office and the SBU.

The local resident himself came to the occupiers to establish cooperation with them in exchange for money.

To do this, he posted his "resume" on the darknet, where he offered "services" in setting fire to the vehicles of the TRC. In early July, a representative of the Russian Federation responded to the defendant's "advert" and gave him a task to destroy military vehicles in Khmelnytskyy.

The young man recruited several other residents of the region to commit the crimes. The defendants set fire to two vehicles of the local military enlistment office using Molotov cocktails. The criminals filmed the fire on their own phones to send a "report" to the Russians.

The organiser and perpetrators received money for each destroyed car. The price of the "service" ranged from $500 to $1,000.

Several episodes of such criminal activity were documented.

During a search of the organiser's residence, the SBU found and seized mobile phones, receipts, bank and telephone SIM cards, a foreign passport, over UAH 128,000 and other material evidence.

The 18-year-old suspect has been detained without bail as a measure of restraint.

Under the procedural supervision of the Khmelnytskyy Special Defence Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region, he was served a notice of suspicion "on the fact of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period, as well as organising a completed attempt to intentionally destroy someone else's property by arson, by prior conspiracy."

Law enforcement officers are working to bring other individuals to justice.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Khmelnytskyy Region based on the materials of the SBU Military Counterintelligence Department and with the assistance of the KORD police special unit.
