The Russian army struck the centre of Kharkiv. According to updated reports, the Russians hit the Shevchenkivskyy district of the city. A polyclinic was damaged.
In his evening video address, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that one person had been killed. Another 12 were injured.
"Rescue operations are still underway in Kharkiv after the Russian strike. There are people under the rubble, and we are doing our best to help them. As of now, we know that 12 people have been injured. Unfortunately, one person has died. My condolences to the families and friends," the Head of State said.
As of 18.45, the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported that two more women aged 39 and 55 who were injured in the missile strike had sought medical assistance.
According to preliminary data, Russia carried out the attack with an Iskander missile.
"Eight civilians were injured in the shelling: six women, a man, and an eight-month-old child," the statement said.
The head of the RMA, Oleh Synyehubov, posted the message about the explosion at 9:53 am. Emergency services rushed to the scene of the attack.
There was a threat of repeated attacks.
Initially, the RMA reported five wounded, two of whom were hospitalised for surgery, the rest were treated on an outpatient basis.
"A polyclinic, cars, and other civilian infrastructure were damaged," said Synyehubov.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov added that the Russians had hit a densely built-up area.
