The Council of the European Union has decided to disburse the first regular tranche of the Ukraine Facility to Ukraine in the amount of €4.2 billion.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on Telegram on 6 August. According to him, the funds will be used to support macrofinancial stability.
"We are grateful for this decision. We expect payments later this month," he said.
- In total, Ukraine is expected to receive €16 billion under this programme this year. In order to receive the funds, the state is obliged to implement a reform plan drawn up by the European partners.
- The Ukraine Facility programme envisages the EU allocating €50 billion to Ukraine over four years.
- In May, the Cabinet approved the plan for the Ukraine Facility programme. The plan includes structural reforms, in particular in public administration, energy and agriculture.
