The International Atomic Energy Agency has been unable to find out why a fire broke out at the occupied Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant on Sunday.
According to Reuters, IAEA experts inspected the lower part of the cooling tower, from which clouds of black smoke rose into the air. According to the monitoring mission, there were no traces of debris, soot or other signs of fire.
The agency assumes that the damage to the cooling tower occurred at an altitude of 10 metres. The incident did not affect the nuclear safety of the plant, as the cooling towers are not currently in use.
