President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked the Verkhovna Rada to convene "immediately in the near future" to consider issues of national importance.
The first is legislative guarantees for the military involved in the Kursk offensive to receive all payments and preferences provided for the front line. Currently, these guarantees do not exist, as the operation is not taking place on Ukrainian territory.
"Second. Every soldier who defends the Ukrainian state, protects our people, defends our independence deserves recognition and maximum support. This applies, in particular, to those of our soldiers - Ukrainian legionnaires - who currently have citizenship of other states, but not yet of Ukraine. They deserve to be our citizens, citizens of Ukraine, and should receive such honour from the Ukrainian state. It is also fair to extend this to their relatives, to the relatives of our heroes," the president said in his address.
Zelenskyy also instructed the Rada to resolve the issue of trophy weapons that defenders receive in combat.
In addition, he called for the deprivation of state awards for traitors to the country.
"They must be deprived of any titles and awards in Ukraine, and this must be done in a real way - so that the decision to deprive them of awards is not just declarative, but actually records how Ukraine treats such a person. The relevant bills are already in the parliament. And I ask the Verkhovna Rada to meet to consider these issues immediately in the near future," the President said.
He also spoke about the Supreme C’n’C staff meeting and the operation in the Kursk region. A military commandant's office is already being set up in the Russian city of Sudzha.
At the Sumpreme C'n'C staff meeting, a strategy for the return of Ukrainians from captivity was presented, and the formation of lists and work with partners was discussed. Zelenskyy announced the disclosure of details about the return from captivity.
