Ukraine is completing its third harvest during the full-scale war, having harvested a total of 28.5 million tonnes of grain: 21.7 million tonnes of wheat and 5.5 million tonnes of barley, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
He noted that this result is the result of the hard daily work of tens of thousands of people and effective government programmes to help farmers.
"This week we started accepting applications for the next support programme. This is to help those who develop irrigation systems. If a farmer invests his own funds, the state will support him by covering up to 50% of the costs of reconstruction or construction of new irrigation systems," he said in a statement.
Shmyhal also said that the government has launched another programme - a mechanism for providing special subsidies for farmers working in the frontline regions. The state will pay UAH 1,000 per hectare of land if the farmer works in the area of possible hostilities, and UAH 2,000 per hectare if it is the area of hostilities.
