On Monday evening, Russians attacked Kryvyy Rih with a ballistic missile fired from the temporarily occupied Crimea.
According to local media reports, the missile hit a hotel with people in it. Judging by the photos released from the scene, the civilian building suffered extensive damage.
The news was announced by the head of the city's defence council, Oleksandr Vilkul, on his Facebook page. The official promised to give specifics after the air raid alert was cancelled, but stressed that rescue and medical services had gone to the scene to help people.
As of 7:30 a.m., two people were killed and five people were rescued, all with injuries of varying degrees.
"Russian missile hit the hotel at midnight, partially destroying the four-storey building. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, and 2 more people are likely to be trapped under the rubble. 6 shops, 4 apartment buildings and 8 cars were damaged," the SES reported.
