President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had spoken with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk about the transfer of Soviet MiG fighter jets to Ukraine.
The Head of State said this at a briefing on 27 August.
‘There is a specific issue. We really need your (Polish - ed.) MiGs. We need your aircraft because they have good avionics and we will not waste time training our pilots,’ Zelenskyy said.
He added that Ukraine is aware of the number of available aircraft and that there has been no positive decision so far.
‘I raised this issue with both Andrzej (Duda - ed.) and Donald Tusk... And we raised it at all levels. Unfortunately, there is no positive decision yet. So I would focus on this decision - these planes,’ the president commented.
