The deputy mayor of Dnipro and the director of a company were suspected of overcharging for parking, which resulted in the misappropriation of UAH 9 million.
They are charged with misappropriation of property on a particularly large scale by abuse of office, forgery committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, and negligence that caused grave consequences.
The investigation established that the suspects set up a scheme to misappropriate funds from Dnipro residents for the use of paid parking spaces. The criminals overstated the prices for parking services by 6 times by entering false information in official documents.
As a result, the city community suffered losses of UAH 9 million.
The prosecutor's office said that they are deciding on the choice of preventive measures and the removal of the deputy mayor from office.
